Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11th

This Sunday is Mother’s Day — a good time to pause and appreciate the women who raised us, cheered for us, and always had our backs.

Whether it’s your mom, your wife, or a mother figure who helped shape you — don’t let the day go by without reaching out. Call her, stop by, or just let her know you’re thinking of her.

And a big shout-out to all the hard-working moms here at River City! You’re the heart of this place, and we see you!

As we approach the Memorial Day holiday, we want to take a moment to honor and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We also want to share a few important reminders about the holiday schedule and eligibility for holiday pay. Please check with your supervisor if you have any questions about your schedule.

Stepping Up When It Matters Most

On Friday, April 4th, a citizen called to commend Anthony Ivey for an act of kindness earlier that week.

The citizen’s mother had hit a deer near Myrtle Beach, SC, and pulled over in the dark. Anthony noticed her vehicle, stopped to help, and quickly provided aid for a cut she sustained—offering one of his River City shirts to stop the bleeding.

He stayed with her until the citizen arrived and even called him directly to explain the situation. The family expressed deep gratitude for Anthony’s compassion and quick thinking.

Let’s Talk Mental Health — No Judgment, Just Support

May is Mental Health Awareness Month — a reminder that taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical safety on the job. For those of you working long hours in the field, responding to storm damage, and putting yourselves in high-risk situations, the emotional toll can be heavy.

Many of you see things most people never will. That kind of exposure, combined with the physical demands of the work, can lead to stress, burnout, depression, and substance use. You may not always know the next step to take — but you don’t have to figure it out alone.

There’s no shame in reaching out and River City Construction is here to support you.

Through our partnership with Cigna, employees and their household members have access to confidential, professional mental health support — at no cost to you. This Mental Health Month, take a moment to check in with yourself — and each other. Your mental health matters. You’ve got backup.

What’s included:

  • Three free in-person or virtual sessions with a licensed counselor through Cigna’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • 24/7 access to live behavioral health support through the myCigna website or app

  • Online therapy options through services like Talkspace and Ginger

  • Help for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and substance use issues

  • Coaching and resources for parenting, family support, and crisis situations

  • Legal, financial, and identity theft assistance also included in the EAP.

REAL ID Deadline - May 7th

Got a job on a military base? Don’t get stopped at the gate because your ID’s not up to code.
If your driver’s license doesn’t have a little star in the corner, it’s not REAL ID compliant—and that means no entry, even if you’re there to save the day with a bucket truck and a roll of wire. REAL ID is your golden ticket onto federal property, so check your wallet now.

Changing Your Benefits

In order to make changes to your benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Aflac & Life Insurance) you will need to prove a Qualifying Life Event within 30 days of the event. Otherwise you can make changes at Open Enrollment.

  • Marriage - Marriage Certificate is required.

  • Divorce - Divorce Decree is required.

  • Birth or Adoption - Birth Certificate or Adoption Order is required.

  • Death of Dependent - Death Certificate is required.

  • Change of Spouse’s Employment or Coverage - Letter from Spouse’s employer is required.
